Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

The position of General Quality Control Inspector is responsible for thoroughly examining products and materials throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet established quality standards by performing visual inspections, measurements, and tests, identifying defects, and reporting any nonconformances to maintain product quality and compliance with company standards.

Reports to Quality Control Manager

Responsibilities & Duties

• Conducting inspections using calibrated equipment and tooling such as calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices to verify dimensions and tolerances of products are within drawing specifications and then recording results

• Visually inspecting products and materials at various stages of production to identify defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications

• Conducting functional/pressure tests and other quality checks as required by product specifications

• Communicating quality concerns to production personnel and supervisors, including potential root causes and corrective actions

• Reviewing and comparing reports such as material test reports, heat treatment, and other special processes that are required per specifications to validate compliance of material and special processes

Skills/Training/Qualifications Required

• Understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, general assembly), and quality control methodologies

• Familiarity with operating forklifts and overhead cranes

• Familiarity with navigating ASTM and Military standards

• Familiarity with using Coordinate Measuring Machines (Hexagon, Mitutoyo) and setting up/programming (2D/3D projects)

• Proficiency in Microsoft programs, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe

• Data organization skills

• Attention to detail

• Being proactive and taking initiative when completing tasks

• Ability to meet deadlines in individual and group tasks

• Effectively communicate with other team members in a positive manner

Physical Requirements

• Typically located on the production floor of a manufacturing facility

• Wearing safety gear such as safety toe shoes, eye and hearing protection

• May involve standing for extended periods of time depending on type of work being performed
